# TakeProvenance — alpha testing terms

Plain language, not a legal document. This is what you're agreeing to by installing this build.

## What this is

An early, unfinished version of TakeProvenance, shared with a small group of musicians and
producers before anyone else gets it. It works — the signing and evidence-pack features described
in the app are real — but you should expect rough edges, missing polish, and the occasional bug.

## All rights reserved — alpha testers only

This build is provided to you directly, for your own testing and feedback, not for redistribution.
Please don't share the installer, screenshots of unreleased features, or this document outside the
group you were invited into. All rights to the app itself are reserved.

## No warranty

This software is provided as-is, with no guarantee it will work correctly, keep your data safe, or
be free of bugs. Back up anything that matters to you the normal way you already do — don't treat
an alpha build as your only copy of anything.

## What TakeProvenance actually proves — and doesn't

A signed take in TakeProvenance is a tamper-evident record: proof that a file matching a given
fingerprint existed, signed by a specific identity, at a specific time. It is **not** a legal
determination of authorship, originality, or copyright ownership, and nothing in this app or its
evidence packs should be treated as legal advice.

## Feedback

Found a bug, or something confusing? Email **scooterhanson@gmail.com** — every report shapes what
ships next. Include what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead if you can.

## Privacy

See the in-app Help screen (or the website) for the full privacy statement. Short version:
TakeProvenance makes zero network calls. Nothing about your sessions, files, or signing key leaves
your computer unless you explicitly choose to share an evidence pack yourself.

## Opening an unsigned build

This alpha isn't code-signed yet, so macOS and Windows will both warn you before letting it run —
that's expected, not a sign anything's wrong. See the download page for exactly what to click
through.
